MAT4BAT – Development of novel Cell Concepts for Electric Vehicles to Extend Battery Life

  • Funding:

    Europäischen Kommission (FP7 Förderkennzeichen: 608931)

  • Startdate:

    01.09.2013

Objectives and Results

The aim of the project is to understand the ageing behaviour of lithium ion batteries for electric vehicles and to achieve battery lifetimes of at least 4000 cycles at 80% discharge depth over 10-15 years.

Contents and approach

Based on the state of the art, novel cell concepts based on new materials and processes are developed, taking into account not only the service life but also other requirements with regard to safety and technical feasibility as well as economic and ecological aspects.
